I was pondering something this morning and I’ll like to share my thoughts snd get some input from others.
I have never gone into a restaurant or coffee shop or cafe and said, “ This is my first visit here, do you offer a ‘first time’ discount?”
It’s never occurred to me to walk into a clothing store and ask for a “first time” rate on my purchases.
I’ve never stepped into a business and expected to have them give me a special rate or completely change the way they do business with all their other customers and make an exception for me since it’s my ‘ first time’ at their place.
But once in a blue moon, i get a text, or Facebook message or email asking me for a “first time” discount or asking me to make exceptions to my online booking system which is set up to prepay to book appointments.
I’ve had this system set up for years and most people love it and understand the reasons for it but every one in a blue moon, someone wants to book and not pay at that time.
I explain and then I let it go… the person will book with me like all my other clients do or not.
But here’s the thing I’ll like to understand- why is this even something I have to think about?
I’ve owned my studio, Rockwall Body and Soul Massage for 12.5 years. I love what I do and how I do it. I love that when a session ends, my clients can just walk out holding their gift bag and water bottle without thinking about making a payment because it’s already done.
My clients love it, too, however it’s the new ones- the people that haven’t been in to see me yet- that want me to do things differently for them.
I might be losing a client that way but I will be keeping my peace of mind, I’ll be making space for those that understand my policies and respect the work I do and the woman I am.
I have always said that I’m not the right person for everybody, just like every one isn’t the right person for me.
That’s the truth but once in a blue moon, it stings a little and I question things and ponder over it and write about it.
Then I post and I wait to see what others f feel about the things that I write my heart out about.
