Even those that came  close

inches away

face to face

never noticed

over and over

again and again

it just proved

what she always knew

they don’t look

long enough

to see

even what’s right

in front

but she’ll hold 

her breath

hopes up

head high

that maybe

just maybe

someone might

surprise her

and look

close enough

to notice.
