She took the first steps

Long, hot bath

Hoping that would bring

Her body back

Mind and spirit

All connected

Like she wanted

She slid between the sheets

Skin on fire

Body begging

So she dared to ask

Just this once, again

Almost desperately

But she hadn’t received

The touch she craved

So she did the best she could

To bring some sweet relief

Her body felt like a minefield

Battle scarred

Full of pain

Criss-crossed

Every which way

If only she could explain

Or better yet

Give exactly what she wanted

By some kind of magic

Osmosis

Potions

Anything

Instead

She held on

Between the sheets

Clutching the pillow

Pressed beneath her knees

Fingers finding the spots

Touching all the places

She could reach

Trying her very best

To bring sweet relief

That her body asked

For her to receive.
