There’s an empty cup

On the table

Seems like it’s been there

Forever and a day

She’s not quite sure

What it once held

Been such a long,long time

Since it was filled

Up to the brim

Spilling over

Quenching her thirst

She tries hard

To find what it was

That long ago

Kept it full

Maybe all she needs

Is to open up the door

Let some things go

Let other things in

And see what happens

To that empty cup

On the table
