Too tired to do more

She settled for

Just a bowl of cereal

A pitiful excuse for dinner

The events of the world

Kept her from running out to get what she wanted

She knew better

Knew full well

She would pay the piper

Pay damn well

Cause when the oh-so-familiar growling

Woke her up one again

She walked barefoot

Stood staring at the choices

It wasn’t what she wanted

But it would have to do

And maybe it would be enough

To tide her over and let her sleep a little bit longer…
