Die In Love

somewhere in the bookcase
there’s a book she had read
long ago
marked the pages
turned down the corners
and jotted words of her own

she watched too many movies
where one lover died
in the arms of the other

and she decided
she’ll live a real life fantasy tale

she’ll live in love
with the stars and the moon
rise up on her toes
and plant kisses on the sun
she’ll leave footprints in the sand
and angels in the snow
make wishes on daffodils
and twinkling stars

she’ll live in love
with warm embraces
candlelight dinners
and late night dances
early morning breakfast
chocolate chip cookies
unexpected presents
hidden treasures
rambunctious laughter
and soft blankets

she’ll find hiding places
keep precious secrets
slip chocolates
when no one is looking
indulge in frivolous things

she’ll grow old
gracefully
dancing till she just can’t
and when the time comes
and the gates of glory
beckon her in

she’ll say
I die in love
i lived in love
I will go as I came
filled with love
received and given

Feel with both hands, Jeanna’
